Earlier in the week, George Lucas told Bloomberg that prior to arranging the deal to sell Lucasfilm to Disney, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill were in the process of concluding contracts for the new Star Wars trilogy. ( Star Wars Episode VII Cast News & Disney Info )

The Head of Disney, Bob Iger recently spoke to CNBC and denied Lucas’s claims:

George Lucas was quoted as saying that they would [return], but we haven’t made any official announcement yet.

Iger isn’t denying that they are in talks and Billy Dee Williams also went on the record to say that he was in talks, but unsure if he would return to the franchise. A week prior to this, Williams was very keen on being a part of the new trilogy which suggests that something has happened during the course of a week to put him off the idea. I would imagine it would be along the lines of being a minor role and nod to the original cast.
